1-Year-Old Suffers Skull Fracture, Assault Suspected

CLARION CO. (KDKA) -- State police in Clarion are investigating after a one-year-old was flown to the hospital with a head injury.

Police say a one-year-old boy was air-lifted to Children's Hospital for a "skull fracture and bleeding of the brain." The child underwent emergency surgery.

Reports indicate the incident took place between May 17 and 18, while the baby was in the custody of his mother.

He is now in stable condition and in protective custody. The incident is being investigated as an aggravated assault.

No further information has been released.
