Family Offering Reward In Jefferson Hills Motel Murder

JEFFERSON HILLS (KDKA) - A reward is now being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person who murdered a motel owner in Jefferson Hills.

The owner, Dehnad "Danny" Taiedi, was found shot to death in the Jefferson Hills Motel's office on May 27. So far, no arrests have been made.

Taiedi's daughter, Kimberly Taiedi Francis, says family and friends came up with the $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person who killed her father.

The day after Taiedi's memorial service, a sign was taped on the front door of the motel. Francis said she wants her father's killer off the streets.

"The person or people who have done this are out there and if they're capable of doing this to him, they're obviously capable of hurting somebody. It's best we get them off the streets, and so honestly that I can sleep at night," said Francis.

Police believe robbery was the motive for Taiedi's death. His daughter says there was evidence of a struggle.

"He wouldn't give away 25 cents," said Francis. "If you asked him for it, yes, but if you came to take it, he would fight for it, whether it was 25 cents or $2,500 and he did struggle and fight for his life."

Allegheny County Police are following leads in the case, but have not detailed any specifics. They won't say if they've been able to use surveillance video as part of the investigation.

"We did an exhaustive search of the corridor here for surveillance video," said Lt. Andrew Schurman with the Allegheny County Police, "but that's not something we can share at this point."

As for the Jefferson Hills Motel, Francis says it will remain open, to honor her father's legacy.
