State Police: Dispute Over Gun Led To Police-Involved Shooting In Beaver Falls

BEAVER FALLS (KDKA) -- A man is facing a long list of charges after police say he barged into a Beaver County home Wednesday afternoon, held another man at gunpoint with children nearby, and then pointed the same gun at officers.

According to state police, 24-year-old Kevin Haskins of Beaver Falls is charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, burglary, criminal attempt robbery, recklessly endangering another person and carrying a firearm without a license.

State Police say it all started with Haskins barging his way into Jasmine Moultrie's home in the 400-block of 4th Avenue in Beaver Falls just before 3:30 p.m.

Police say he was looking for a man by the name of Marquise Glass, who was in the kitchen of the home at the time.

Another woman in the home said she saw Haskins pull a gun from the waistband of his pants and point the "firearm at Glass's head," police said.

That's when she ran from the kitchen and helped "Moultrie with gathering her children" to get out of the home.

Police say the two women told them Haskins and Glass were fighting over some object. Glass later told investigators that Haskins accused him of withholding a gun that he wanted back.

According to police, Glass said Haskins told him, "I'm about to kill you," and that he was "lucky this was Jasmine's house."

When Beaver Falls Police arrived, officials say they ordered Haskins to drop his weapon repeatedly.

State Police say "Haskins attempted to discharge his firearm towards the officers, but the weapon initially malfunctioned." That's when police say the officers fired, striking Haskins.

He was taken by medical helicopter to a local hospital for treatment. There's no word on his condition.

The investigation continues.
