Sanitation Crews Clean Up Big Mess At Big Screens After Game 5 Loss

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Roughly 20,000 fans watched Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final on two big screens set up in Pittsburgh Thursday night.

The crowd outside of Consol Energy Center was so large that a second big screen was set up in Market Square.

Fans were hoping to see the Pittsburgh Penguins win the Stanley Cup, but they'll have to wait a little while longer. The Pens lost 4-2 and will head to San Jose for Game 6 Sunday night.

After the game, the ground was littered with piles of trash that required sanitation crews to be called. As of Friday morning, most of the mess had been cleared.

Fortunately, there were no major security issues. However, police quickly broke up a fight between two men on the South Side right after the game ended. The men were restrained and later released with a warning.

Police report only one arrest, a 21-year-old woman for public drunkenness.

Despite the loss in Game 5, fans remain optimistic.

"Pens didn't have a good night, but next game is going to be ours. Phil Kessel needs the puck more, he's hungry, he wants more goals, he'll get them next time. The city needs the Cup. Stanley's coming this way," one man said.

"Well, it was a close game, Pens always make it close. I think we'll do it in San Jose," another fan said.
