Man Injured, Robbed During Home Invasion In New Castle

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) -- Police in New Castle are looking for two home invasion suspects.

Officers were called to a home in the 100 block of West Friendship Street on the city's south side around 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Two men reportedly forced themselves into a home and demanded money from a man inside, before assaulting him. One of the men reportedly had a gun.

"One was holding a pizza box and before he could say that he didn't order a pizza, they rushed in the door and started assaulting him," New Castle Police Lt. David Cumo said. "They did have masks on when they entered the house. However, we did recover some gloves that we will be sending in for DNA testing."

The suspects got away with about $300 in cash.

The men were seen leaving the area in a white Chevy pickup truck.

Police searched the area, but didn't find the truck or the men.

Police say surveillance video from an auto body shop across the street could help them track down the suspects.

The victim, who neighbors say is a man in his 70s, was checked by medics at the scene, but was not taken to the hospital.

New Castle Police are investigating.
