Vehicle Crashes Into Ohio Twp. Restaurant, Elderly Woman Not Hurt

OHIO TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – An Ohio Township restaurant will need plenty of repairs after a driver crashed through the building and ended up in the middle of the dining room.

Ohio Township Police say the elderly woman and two passengers drove up to Andora restaurant for lunch Friday afternoon.

But when she accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, her car slammed into the building. The vehicle crashed through a bay window, shattering glass and strewing bricks and debris everywhere.

"Oh my goodness, that's all," was customer Janet Brogan's reaction to the scene.

Brogan stopped by the restaurant for lunch and took pictures of the scene.

She couldn't believe the sight of the car sitting in the dining room, surrounded by broken tables and chairs.

"All I saw was a lot of people, and then I saw the car was in the window," said Brogan. "Then, I watched them pull the car out with the tow truck."

Fortunately, no one was inside the dining room at the time of the crash.

As for the driver, witnesses at the scene said she was not injured.

No one from the restaurant was available for comment.

The manager told KDKA's Bob Allen off camera that they're relieved no one was hurt, and this appears to be nothing more than an unfortunate accident.

With plenty of dining space, the restaurant was able to reopen.
