According to a coroner’s report, Bakali was driving westbound on I-70 between milemarkers 35 and 36 in Charleroi around 9 a.m. The coroner says Bakali thought he hit something, so he pulled over on the side of the road and got out to check for damage. While he was walking around his car, he was hit by a tractor trailer.

The tractor trailor came to rest about 100 yards away from Bakali’s car. The accident brought traffic in the westbound lanes to a halt and forced drivers to wait in their cars.

People forced to wait in traffic were understanding of the hold-up.

“I know the job they have to do it’s a very hard job, it’s very taxing and it’s hard to see and they have to do it in a timely manner,” said John Goodman.
