Police Release New Details In Rankin Attempted Abduction

RANKIN (KDKA) -- Investigators have released new details as they search for a suspect wanted in an attempted child abduction last week in Rankin.

The incident happened last Thursday around 10 p.m. along Oak Alley.

According to police, an 8-year-old girl was walking down the street with some teenagers when she decided to walk back towards a family member's home on Fifth Street.

Police say that's when she was approached by a silver sedan. The vehicle had tinted windows, an emblem on the front resembling that of a Cadillac's, and the license plate had the letters "LX."

The passenger in the vehicle tried to grab the girl, police said. He grabbed her arm and tried to pull her toward the vehicle. The girl told investigators the man also put his hand over her mouth.

She was able to fight off the attack though, police said, and run away. She was not hurt.
