Girl Scouts Adding New Cookie Flavor: S'mores

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Just in time for National S'mores day, the Girl Scouts have announced they're adding a S'mores cookie to their cookie lineup.

A first of its kind for the Girl Scouts, the S'mores cookie is making its debut in 2017. It features a crunchy graham sandwich cookie with creamy chocolate and marshmallow filling.

The newly introduced cookie contains no artificial flavors or colors, high fructose corn syrup, or hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils.

The S'mores cookie will be available for purchase along with favorites like Thin Mints, Trefoils and Samoas when Girl Scouts in southeastern Michigan begin taking orders on Dec. 19, 2016.

The S'mores cookie, however, could be priced higher than other Girl Scout Cookies, reflecting the cost of production.

Another variety of the S'mores cookie will be sold in other parts of the country. This version features a crispy graham cookie double dipped in a creme icing and covered in a chocolatey coating.

The cookies are the first new additions to the Girl Scout Cookie lineup since 2015.

The new varieties commemorate the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts' cookie sale.
