Former Gymnastics Coach Accused Of Molesting Girls To Stand Trial

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Keith Callen's bond is set at 250,000. He was taken out of the West Deer Magistrate's Office in handcuffs by constables, after the judge heard two separate cases against him.

In the first case brought against Callen, he's accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl whom he first met while he was working at Jewarts Gymnasium in Hampton Township. She was just 12 years old. According to the victim, he bought her a diamond heart-shaped necklace, which her mother returned to Callen, calling the gift inappropriate.

According to testimony on Monday, the victim said she trained with Callen at multiple gyms and that he first touched her sexually at Trinity Gymnastics in Gibsonia in 2013. She claims he placed his hand under her leotard after offering to help her stretch. The sexual acts continued at Elite Althetic Center in Butler according to the victim and then progressed in 2015 in the Home Depot parking lot in Butler. The victim said Callen told her to meet him there to help her with a knee injury, but she said inappropriate touching turned to sex. Between March and April of 2015, the victim said they met here roughly six times, and that by summer, verbal abuse started.

In the second case, a young woman, 22 years old, claimed when she was 5 or 6, she and her then-7-year-old sister were sexually abused by Callen. They came forward after the first alleged victim brought her case. The two sisters were abused by their stepfather, who is in prison convicted in that case. The sisters claimed they met Callen through their stepfather. At five years old, the woman said Callen performed oral sex on her, and working with her stepfather, took nude pictures of her and her sister. Those pictures are what ultimately led to her stepfather being arrested.

The assistant district attorney said that the authorities are still interviewing possible victims.
