93.7 The Fan High School Football Preview 2016 Class 3A: Aliquippa

Aliquippa
Beaver Valley Conference

There are a lot of great football programs in Western Pennsylvania.

There is only one Aliquippa.

No team has won as many WPIAL championships as the Quips, who won their 16th last season, and no team can match their combination of tradition – the Quips won their first title in 1952 - and recent success.

Aliquippa only returns nine starters but is favored to get to Heinz Field for the Class AAA championship game, which isn't a shock considering the Quips have played in the WPIAL title game in each of the last eight seasons.

The Quips will again be loaded with lots of skill, speed and athleticism and that starts with junior quarterback/defensive back Kwantel Raines, who already has more than a dozen Division I scholarship offers.

The offensive line will be anchored by a brother act as Dajour and Xavier Fisher are the team's top two linemen and wide receiver Thomas Perry has big-play capability.

The Quips have been dominant in Class AA but this year are playing in Class AAA and that means they will have some bigger challenges ahead of them in both section play and once the playoffs begin.

But winning seems to take care of itself at Aliquippa regardless of who their opponents are and this year should be no exception.
