PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — It doesn’t look like a grocery store. The only one cruising the aisles is a Zing Basket employee filling an order sent in online.
It’s opening day for the only store in America that guarantees delivery to your home in less than 45 minutes, within a four-mile radius of Green Tree.READ MORE: Attorney General Josh Shapiro Reports $10M In Campaign Cash For Gubernatorial Run
“We have a cooler and freezer that handles all the perishables,” says owner Varol Ablak. “This is where we keep our fruits, vegetables, meats. The typical Giant Eagle has probably about 30,000 items. Costco has 4,000. Aldi’s may have 1m500. We have 2,000, but over the next six months we’ll probably be up to about 5,000.”
They guarantee the ice cream will get to your home without melting.
And it’s not just food. Now open 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., they plan to soon go 24/7.
Meanwhile, company Vice President Brandon Filotei picks up an order, and heads for the bright green Zing Basket car. He says there’s not a second to waste.READ MORE: Applications Open For LIHEAP With Increased Benefits
“It’s a challenge. But I really think, a lot of the time, we follow all the safety laws and follow the speed limit,” Filotei said. “We just have incredible pickers who allow us the flexibility to really get to that customer’s home within 45 minutes.”
He’s right on time, at customer Lori Nemec’s home.
“I think as a single mother and a working mother, it’s just really convenient,” the customer says. “It’s nice to know you don’t have to go to the grocery store. And actually, grocery shopping gives me a little anxiety, to be honest. I don’t love it.”

“People have less and less time,” owner Ablak says. “So the typical time you want to go to the grocery store, it’s about a two or three hour ordeal. For us, we like to keep it under a minute for you guys, and you get it right at your door.”
