One Killed In East Pittsburgh Crash

EAST PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- One person was killed and two were sent to the hospital after a crash in East Pittsburgh early Saturday morning.

The two-vehicle crash happened on Route 30 near the Westinghouse Bridge just before 3:30 a.m.

The Allegheny County medical examiner's office identified the victim as 44-year-old Olin Simpson, of McKeesport. Simpson died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash at 3:27 a.m.

According to authorities, Simpson was the only one in his car at the time of the crash. The driver and passenger of other vehicle were sent to the hospital.

Route 30 was closed between Center Street and Clyde Avenue in both directions for about 3 hours while police were on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
