Police: Intruder Assaults Woman, Then Breaks Into 2 Other Apartments

INDIANA, Pa. (KDKA) -- A man is behind bars after police in Indiana Borough say he broke into a home, assaulted a woman, and then proceeded to break into two more apartments on the same street.

Braheen Alphonso Acres, 23, is charged with burglary, aggravated indecent assault, criminal trespass, resisting arrest, theft and possession of marijuana.

It happened in the 800 and 900 blocks of Wayne Avenue around 7 a.m. Sunday.

Indiana Borough Police were called first to a residence on Wayne Avenue where a woman stated that she awoke to find a male intruder assaulting her on the couch. The man fled before the police could capture him.

Less than an hour later, officers responded to a burglary in progress at an apartment complex on the same street. The suspect was not located but described by a witness.

Police noticed a third apartment's open door and upon investigation found the suspect attempting to steal items from another residence.

Acres resisted arrest and spit on officers before being taken to Indiana County Jail.

According to to the Indiana Gazette, Acres was charged with rape in 2011.
