Hundreds Gather Downtown For Labor Day Celebration
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Hundreds of Pittsburghers gathered downtown Monday morning for the annual Labor Day parade, which is one of the largest in the country.
The Pittsburgh Labor Day parade celebrates the American worker. Workers -- some in unions, others non-union -- came with their families for the sights and sounds of the parade.
The Pittsburgh Firefighters Union led this year's Labor Day parade, marching along Grant Street. Those watching said it was important to be along the parade route.
"I love America, and I love American-made products, and I love supporting our workers," Carol Hewyaad of O'Hara Township said. "And that's what you're supposed to do on Labor Day."

For many, Labor Day is a day off work, but that doesn't mean a day to forget the American worker.
"My husband's in Laborers Union 1058, and we're celebrating everything that they do for everyone," one woman said.
"Really, the American people are what keeps the country going," Kyra Regan of Beaver Falls said, "so remembering that they're what keeps us going and celebrating them is really important."
Bands and bagpipes, buses and trucks of all sizes participated in this year's parade. It adds up to one of the largest Labor Day parades in the country, an honor Pittsburgh wears proudly.
