Fort Cherry H.S. Teacher To Stand Trial In Sex With Student Case

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Fort Cherry High School teacher will stand trial for allegedly having sex with a student.

David Cook, 42, didn't say a word as he left the district magistrate's office Wednesday.

Cook, a former Spanish teacher at Fort Cherry High School, is accused of performing a sex act on a 17-year-old male student during a party at a friend's house in McDonald.

The alleged victim testified that Cook arrived at the party through a basement door and seemed already intoxicated.

He said Cook started to talk about homosexuality and said he wanted to mentor him. Then, the teen testified that Cook allegedly gave him two drinks, after which the teen says he blacked out and woke up to find an oral sex act being performed on him.

According to the criminal complaint, the next day, Cook sent the victim a text saying, "I'm sorry about last night."

The teenager told police it wasn't the first time Cook had given him alcohol. He said he was given alcohol on several occasions, including once at an away sporting event.

It was concealed in a brown bag, and the teen says Cook allegedly told him if anyone asked, to say it was windshield washer fluid.

When the allegations first came to light in February, the administration removed Cook from the district immediately.

Cook faces a list of charges including, sexual assault, corruption of minors, rape of an unconscious victim, intercourse and/or sexual contact with a student and indecent assault of an unconscious person.
