Steelers Sign Guard David DeCastro To 6-Year Deal

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have locked up All-Pro guard David DeCastro for the rest of the decade, and then some.

The six-year contract will keep DeCastro with the Steelers through the 2021 season. Financial terms of the contract were not made public.

The 26-year-old DeCastro was entering the final year of the rookie deal he signed after the Steelers took him with the 24th overall pick in the 2012 draft following an All-American career at Stanford.

According to a press release, DeCastro started all 16 regular-season games for the second consecutive year in 2015, earning his first career Pro Bowl selection and first-team Associated Press All-Pro honors.

Entering the 2016 season, his 40 consecutive games started streak is the sixth-longest active streak among NFL guards.

DeCastro's career got off to a bumpy start when a knee injury limited him to just four games his rookie season. But he's quickly developed into one of the league's best linemen and has missed just one game over the past three seasons.
