Police: Man Breaks Into Apartment, Threatens Estranged Wife & Son With Machete

JEANNETTE (KDKA) – A machete-wielding man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into an apartment in Jeannette last month.

The incident happened at the Jeannette Gardens Apartments shortly after midnight on Aug. 25.

Jeannette Police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Justin Turner. Also known on the street as "Freak" Turner, he's accused of attacking his estranged wife.

The woman told police Turner ripped at the apartment's rear sliding glass door until he managed to force himself inside.

According to the criminal complaint, Turner yelled at the woman, accusing her of "cheating on him."

The criminal complaint reports Turner was armed with a machete, and also grabbed the woman by the throat and started choking her.

Investigators say Turner threatened to kill the victim, his own 2-year-old son and the victim's mother.

A young woman, identifying herself as the victim's daughter, told KDKA, "It was blown out of proportion and the woman is going to be just fine."

However, Jeannette Police say they saw red marks on the victim's throat when they arrived at the scene, allegedly made by Turner.

He was on the run for a short time, but was eventually arrested on aggravated assault and related charges.

He is being held in the prison on $100,000 straight bond.
