PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — It was the reunion one soldier and his family waited a year for.

Army Reserves Sergeant Salvatore Norge returned home Saturday afternoon.

Norge is finally back in Lawrence County, and he was greeted by everyone in his neighborhood. Norge served a tour of duty in Aghanistan and has been overseas for nearly a year.

Norge said he never expected such a homecoming.

“It was definitely nerve-racking coming home to all this, but once I got out of the truck and hugged my mother, everything’s okay now,” Norge said. “I’m glad to be home, I wasn’t expecting all this, I was expecting to come home to 10 or 12 family members.”
