Gateway School District To Appeal Rejection Of Armed School Police Plan
MONROEVILLE (KDKA) -- The Gateway School Board is planning to appeal a judge's ruling that rejects its plan to form an armed police force.
The board met Tuesday night where they voted 8-1 to appeal the decision.
The judge who rejected the plan said, "Giving security officers full police power could lead to abuse."
Gateway wants to give the officers the power to make arrests and issue citations for summary offenses.
In case of misdemeanors or felonies, the officers would turn offenders over to Monroeville Police.
