Steelers' DeAngelo Williams Films Breast Cancer Awareness PSA At Pittsburgh Restaurant

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Carmi Soul Food Restaurant on Western Avenue is a cozy haven for those who have a taste for southern cooking.

The word "Carmi" combines the names of owners Carleen and her husband, Michael. Mike and Carleen King opened the restaurant five years ago. All food is cooked to order.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams is an occasional guest at Carmi. But recently, he showed up with a camera crew from the NFL.

They spent hours at the restaurant, shooting a public service announcement for breast cancer awareness.

Carlene describes the scenario: "I'm waiting for DeAngelo to come in and take over. In he walks, and he takes over, and he does all for me, while I go and get my annual exam."

She says Carmi is the setting for a breast cancer PSA, which aims to "motivate a lot of men to encourage their women to take the time."

It was a major production.

"It was a learning experience. There was so much going on, there were so many people, so many moving parts," she said. "There were gaffers and lights and rolling things, and cameras that hung off people's bodies. It's exciting. And I think any time you have a chance to do something for somebody else, you should grab it with both hands."
