Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium Offers Free Day

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Just before the weather turns too cold, the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is offering a free day!

On Oct. 9, people are encouraged to take advantage of "RAD Day."

"We love when visitors are able to take advantage of our free day at the Zoo," says Dr. Barbara Baker, President & CEO Of the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. "We work hard to ensure that everyone has a wonderful visit, but RAD Day always means much larger crowds than normal and that also includes a lot of waiting in traffic and more congestion at the animal exhibits."

Last year's attendance for the free day was more than 23,000 visitors.

People are asked to leave plenty of time for traffic because the Zoo entrance, Butler Street, One Wild Place, Route 28, R.D. Flemming Bridge, Washington Boulevard, and Allegheny River Boulevard will be congested.
