Police: Mom's Boyfriend Squeezed Infant's Head, Causing Severe Bruising

MOUNT PLEASANT TWP. (KDKA) -- A 31-year-old Vanderbilt man is accused of abusing his girlfriend's 12-month-old.

Officers were called to Frick Hospital Emergency Room for a suspected incident of child abuse that allegedly took place on State Route 982 in Vanderbilt.

Investigators say the infant was in the care of Joshua Ray Huffine while the baby's mother was at work.

He allegedly became angry that the baby would not stop crying, so he grabbed the 12-month-old boy by the face and squeezed him, shook him and screamed for the child to stop crying.

The incident caused severe bruising on both sides of the child's face.

Huffine has been charged with aggravated assault., endangering the welfare of children and simple assault. His bond was set at $200,000.
