Surveillance Video Released Of Masked Suspect Wanted In General Store Robbery

STRONGSTOWN (KDKA) -- Police are releasing surveillance video in hopes that it will help them track down a masked suspect accused of robbing a general store in Indiana County.

According to state police, the suspect had a mask covering his face and claimed to have a gun when he walked into the Strongstown General Store and demanded cash.

"Someone come in, said they had a gun, and demanded all the money out of the register," said Ryan Moyer, the store owner. "It was just a terrible thing that happened."

Moyer and his wife own the popular shop along Route 422. A young woman hired to work night-side was on duty when the robber came in.

"She was really scared," said Moyer.

But she kept her cool as the crook demanded cash.

Masked with a hoodie and wearing socks to cover his hands, the thief even brought his own bag for the take. But the surveillance video shows that he was so concerned with his getaway, he almost left the bag of money he had just stolen.

"We have a family we're trying to raise, and they basically stole off our family. It's just not right," said Moyer.

The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money, but his actions resulted in the store also losing an employee.

"[The clerk] quit working here since then," said Moyer.

The robbery also left Moyer concerned for his wife who tends to the store with him.

"I have to keep in my mind and worry; it could happen at any time," he said.

But the Moyers are undaunted. They say support from the community is unbelievable and they're not going to be intimidated.

If you know anything about the robbery and the identity of the suspect, you are asked to the call state police in Indiana County.
