State Police Investigating Mt. Pleasant Twp. Attempted Child Luring

MOUNT PLEASANT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an attempted child luring in Westmoreland County.

According to police, the incident happened around 6 p.m. Saturday on High Street in Mount Pleasant Township.

A man allegedly told a 12-year-old girl he would drive her wherever she wanted to go if she got into his vehicle.

The girl ran to a neighbor's house and state police were called.

The incident has neighbors on high alert.

"I have a girl the same age. She walks down to the bus stop by herself. I want to let her be independent, but now I can't do that," said neighbor Amber Maybury. "I felt like I have to smother her because people just can't leave kids alone."

The suspect was described as being a white male between 40-50 years of age. He had a medium build with gray/brown hair, which was straight and about ear-length. He also had a closely shaven beard.

He may also have had a tattoo on his right arm.

The vehicle was described as being an older two-door, which was red with black rims and had a plastic flower on the dashboard. The make and model of the vehicle are unknown.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police in Greensburg at (724)-832-3288.
