MOON (KDKA) — Michael Trella was a sophomore at Moon Area High School and a member of the varsity lacrosse team.

People who knew him say they are too distraught to talk about the teen who was a happy, good-spirited guy.

No one is sure what happened, but sources tell KDKA that Trella died in his sleep. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office says autopsy results are pending.

Trella was known for his wearing his blue crocs.

The Moon area student section known as “The Tiger Den” reached out on Twitter, asking everyone to wear blue crocs and khakis to Friday’s football game between Moon and West Allegheny in honor of Trella.

The 10th grader had played lacrosse for six years and his brothers also played.
