BEAVER COUNTY (KDKA) — A small community in Beaver County raised $523,100 towards a very special project.
“I have been with Blackhawk now for about six months and when I first arrived, there is a local group they call the BAAG group, Blackhawk Athletic Activities Group, who has begun a fundraising activity to build a complex behind our high school,” said Rob Postupac, Blackhawk Interim Superintendent.READ MORE: Pittsburgh Weather: Dropping Temperatures, Rain Chances

Earlier this summer, the school board told the community group that if they could raise $500,000, the board would add a million more. They did it in 90 days.
“By giving them more to do, places to be, things to do, we are going to help save those children out there in every community, and I hope that Blackhawk can be an inspiration for other communities that ‘Yes you can make things happen’ if you all just come together,” said Dean Fleischman, Blackhawk Board of School Directors.

“We committed early on to $500,000. It would be easy to stop at this point, but our group is committed to continue our efforts,” said one member.
