Pittsburgh Steelers Week 11 Injury Report: Steelers' Health On The Rise Despite Losing Heyward

By Danny Cox

Regardless of the factors, a four-game losing streak is never easy. This is true for the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team plagued by recent injuries. Still, there is typically a team in the NFL struggling to overcome even bigger issues. The Steelers look to break their losing streak against the 0-10 Cleveland Browns in week 11.

Many believe the Steelers can beat the Browns this weekend. However, there is never an easy week in the NFL and the Steelers will be without a handful of key playmakers come Sunday.

As revealed earlier this week, defensive end Cameron Heyward is out for the rest of the 2016 season due to a torn pectoral muscle that he suffered in their loss to the Dallas Cowboys in week 10. Heyward, a team captain, is expected to be placed on injured reserve.

Wide receivers Darrius Heyward-Bey (foot) and Markus Wheaton (shoulder) will both miss week 11 after not practicing most of this week. Heyward-Bey is still dealing with a foot injury that has completely sidelined him. While, Wheaton has seen his production and playing time down this year due to a shoulder injury that has kept him off of the field for weeks.

Running back DeAngelo Williams is also out with a knee injury, as is safety Shamarko Thomas with a groin injury.

Considering the wide receivers who are out, the Steelers did get some good news in practice this week. Sammie Coates had been playing with broken fingers, which caused his production to decrease in recent weeks. Coates was removed from the injury report on Friday and fully participated in practice. Plus, Ben Roethlisberger did not appear on the team's injury report this week.

The Browns may be one of the healthiest teams in the entire NFL

While the Steelers work to overcome injuries, the Browns may be one of the healthiest teams in the NFL. Throughout the past week, the Browns had a number of players who were limited in practice or sat out entirely. On Wednesday, offensive tackle Joe Thomas (knee) and defensive back Tramon Williams (knee) were both sidelined and didn't practice at all. Defensive backs Jamar Taylor (groin) and Joe Haden (groin) were both limited.

On Thursday, every player on the Browns' active roster participated fully in practice except for Williams. On Friday, Williams was the lone remaining name on their injury report and he was listed as Questionable. The Cleveland Browns are extremely healthy and desperate for a victory. They hope to end their winless season at home against the Steelers on Sunday.

Questionable:

  • (S) Jordan Dangerfield (Groin) - Full Participation In Practice
  • (TE) Xavier Grimble (Quadricep) - Limited Participation In Practice

Out:

  • (DE) Cameron Heyward (Pectoral) - Did Not Participate In Practice
  • (WR) Markus Wheaton (Shoulder) - Did Not Participate In Practice
  • (RB) DeAngelo Williams (Knee) - Did Not Participate In Practice
  • (WR) Darrius Heyward-Bey (Foot) - Did Not Participate In Practice
  • (S) Shamarko Thomas (Groin) - Did Not Participate In Practice
