Pittsburgh Technology Council's Tech 50 Award Winners Announced On KDKA

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) Pittsburgh Technology Council's Tech 50 Awards announced the 2016 winners to recognize technology companies in the Pittsburgh area.

Speaking during TechVibe Radio on Newsradio 1020 KDKA on Nov. 11, co-hosts Audrey Russo (PTC CEO) and Jonathan Kersting (PTC Director of Visibility Jonathan) said this was their biggest ceremony ever.

Kersting said, "We had nine categories this year and some amazing winners."

Kersting went on to talk a little about their first award.

"Start-up of the year, and no stranger to TechVibe Radio, Duolingo," Kersting said.

Duolingo is an educational app designed to provide free language education to users and has more than 100 million users.

"Last time I checked, they said they're signing up, something like 300,000 people a month," said Kersting.

YinzCam took home the award for 'Innovator of the Year.' YinzCam designs and develops mobile apps for more than 140 sports teams, leagues and stadiums in professional and college sports.

Jesse Schell, CEO of Schell Games, was awarded CEO of the Year. Schell was named one of the 50 most powerful people in Pittsburgh by Pittsburgh Magazine in 2015.

TeleTracking, 'Innovator of the Year – Health IT'
Peptilogics, 'Innovator of the Year – Life Sciences'
ANSYS, 'Solution Provider of the Year – Innovative Technology'
Advantech U.S., 'Innovator of the Year – Manufacturing'
Summa, 'Solution Provider of the Year – Consulting and IT Services'
TiER1 Performance Solutions, 'Culture Leader'

Newsradio 1020 KDKA's Larry Richert emceed the awards ceremony, which was held on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in Pittsburgh.

TechVibe Radio airs every Friday night at 7 p.m. on Newsradio 1020 KDKA. PTC CEO Audrey Russo and Director of Visibility Jonathan Kersting host the show.
