Juvenile Taken Into Custody After Chartiers City Police Chase

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A juvenile is in custody after leading police on a chase through Pittsburgh's Chartiers City neighborhood.

According to police, the incident happened just before 10 p.m.

Officers began pursuing the vehicle after it failed to stop at a red light. When they ran the license plate, officers discovered the car had been reported as stolen.

Officers finally stopped the driver at the corner of Windgap Avenue and Harlow Street.

A neighbor was standing in his driveway when it happened.

"I saw cop cars coming down from the Windgap Bridge and I heard a loud pop, and I saw the car pull into there. One of the passengers must have got out and got tackled, and then there's still cops circling around everywhere looking for someone or something," said Justin Steck, a neighbor who witnessed the incident.

A man and a 17-year-old juvenile were initially taken into custody. The adult has since been released.
