Duquesne Holds Off Cleveland St. Rally In 78-71 Win

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Mike Lewis II scored 20 points while Darius Lewis and Josh Steel each scored 13 and Duquesne held off Cleveland State for a 78-71 win on Sunday to conclude the Bluegrass Showcase.

Eric James made a pair of free throws to put Duquesne up 61-43 with 9:40 to go before Cleveland State scored 18 straight to tie it. Kasheem Thomas was 6-for-7 shooting from the free throw line and made a pair of layups during the run.

Duquesne (2-4) proceeded to outscore the Vikings 17-10 in the final five minutes to preserve the win. Darius Lewis' layup with 1:26 to go put the Dukes up 76-69.

The Dukes led 33-30 at the break.

Thomas led Cleveland State (1-4) with 16 points and six assists, Rob Edwards had 15 points and eight boards, and Kenny Carpenter added 13 points for the Dukes.

The all-time series is now tied at two games apiece. The teams last met in the 2002-03 season.
