Get Marty: Desperate Family Seeks Fix To Major Water Main Break

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A local family, panicking over a water line broken for nearly two weeks, is reaching out to Get Marty.

"We are desperate for your help. The water has reached catastrophic measures. Please help us!"

That was the email sent to Get Marty by the Haffner family.

The Haffners battled the water line break for 11 days in front of their Squirrel Hill home.

"It went from a little stream to the Three Rivers running in front of my house," says Mark Haffner.

The family reached out to a Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority and says they didn't get a response.

"No one cared until we called Get Marty," says Shelly Haffner.

KDKA then called PWSA. A spokesman issued this statement:

"We are actually scheduled to investigate the source of the leak tomorrow. My understanding is the problem was not on the portion of the line owned by the PWSA."

Within 24 hours, the agency had crews on the scene and fixed the problem.

In a follow-up statement sent to KDKA they said:

"Our crews visited the home today and made repairs."

Mark told KDKA, "Nobody wanted to do anything. If we wouldn't have called you, I bet you we'd still be running, and I'd have a skating rink now."
