High School Put Under Lockdown After Threats Found In Student's Journal

NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) -- Valley High School in New Kensington was put on lockdown Wednesday and will remain that way for a while because of a threat.

Police say a student wrote in his journal that he was going to "shoot up the school."

Valley High School students are required to pass through metal detectors as they come into school, and authorities didn't find any weapons Wednesday.

The school will remain under lockdown indefinitely, however, and they are increasing security.

There is no word Wednesday night whether the juvenile will be charged or not, but he is being questioned.

Thursday, more police will be on the scene to make sure Valley High School is secure.
