19-Year-Old Accused Of Abusing Girlfriend's 3-Year-Old Daughter

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A 3-year-old girl suffered bruises to her face, neck and shoulder, and police say her mother's boyfriend is responsible.

There is a warrant out for the arrest of 19-year-old David Johnson. KDKA went to his home to try to speak with him Tuesday. A family member said they haven't heard from Johnson since Sunday.

A home on Clarkton Street in Pittsburgh is where police say the child abuse took place. KDKA knocked on the door and asked for Johnson. He was not there, and his family declined to speak on camera.

Officers say Johnson's girlfriend called 911 on Sunday to report Johnson assaulted her 3-year-old daughter while she was away.

Police say she told them Johnson "whooped" the child because he found his 12-year-old brother playing with the toddler underneath a blanket.

Police report seeing the little girl with bruises on her face, neck and left shoulder. She also had a busted lip, a swollen left ear and a large lump on her forehead.

Johnson's girlfriend says he left the house wearing slippers and an ankle bracelet because he is on probation.

Court records show that in 2015, Johnson pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a minor and recklessly endangering another person.

There is no court date set for the case because Johnson has not been located. If he is arrested or turns himself in, a hearing date will be scheduled at that time.
