Police: Pitcairn Fatal Shooting Was Possibly A Result Of Drug Deal Gone Bad

PITCAIRN (KDKA) – One person was shot and killed in Pitcairn early Tuesday morning.

According to police, the shooting happened in an apartment in the 300 block of Broadway Boulevard around 1 a.m.

"They found a young man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, taken to local hospital, where he was pronounced dead," Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman said.

Officials have now identified the victim as Anthony Bailey, 27, of Penn Hills. The medical examiner's office says he died of gunshots of the trunk and right lower extremity.

Teams of officers from both the county and Pitcairn were in and out of the apartment building most of the morning collecting evidence and talking to residents.

"I didn't hear the shots because I didn't get in until about one o'clock," Gerald Kunkle said.

Lisa Lawrence just happened to be walking by shortly after the shots were fired.

"It already happened, I just [saw] the police and they were going in and out," she said.

There is no word if the victim lived in the apartment, but investigators have an idea about what lead to his death.

"We believe that was possibly a drug deal gone bad and the individual who perished was being robbed at the time. We have some witnesses that saw two black males fleeing from the area," Schurman said.

Allegheny County Police are asking for anyone with information to contact them.

There are no suspects at this time, but police will be reviewing surveillance video.
