Pa. Woman Impaled By Umbrella At Ocean City Beach

OCEAN CITY, Md. (WJZ) — A Pennsylvania woman was flown to a hospital near Ocean City after she was impaled by an unattended beach umbrella.

According to local authorities, the woman was struck in the chest by the umbrella on the beach.

Ocean City spokeswoman Jessica Waters said it happened Sunday afternoon on the beach at 54th Street.

Delmarva Now reports that the call came in around 3:11 p.m. The wooden pole from the rented beach umbrella pierced the skin on the upper left chest of the woman.

She was flown to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
