O'HARA TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - Two people were treated after a chemical leak in O'Hara Township at a company in RIDC Park.

Emergency officials were called to Cook MyoSite in the 100 block of Delta Road around 9:30 a.m.

Employees were evacuated after the chemical leak triggered an alarm in the building.

The company investigates cell therapy for muscles. As part of their operation, there are numerous monitors making sure the environmental conditions are exactly right.

When firefighters and other emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they found elevated levels of carbon monoxide inside the building.

However, this does not mean carbon monoxide was leaking. It could have been formed in the air another way, which is what officials are investigating.

Two people, who were in the particular manufacturing area where the monitor went off, reportedly started feeling sick and needed treatment.

"One was transported and one was treated on scene here. Lightheadedness, dizziness and general sickness," Blawnox Fire Chief George McBriar said.

"Just because carbon monoxide is present, doesn't mean that's what was leaking. Carbon monoxide can be made through some process that they do in there. They're, as you guys said, a biotech company. I don't know that we're privy to all of their processes," Allegheny County Emergency Services Asst. Chief Steve Imbarlina said.

The company owns another building nearby. All of the employees were moved to that location.

As of noon, the situation was stable and the building was clear.

Officials are keeping it well ventilated until they can correct the issue that caused the leak in the first place.
