PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A highly talented longtime former director of the Pittsburgh Opera has died.

Tito Capobianco died Saturday morning in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Fla., after a yearlong battle with lung cancer.

He was the Pittsburgh Opera stage director from 1983 to 2000.
