Police believed 18-year-old Brylee West was hiding out in a home on 21st Street.

West is accused of shooting 27-year-old Mahogany Luke and her young daughter in Steubenville, Ohio, on Monday. Luke's daughter remains in a Pittsburgh-area hospital in an unknown condition.

Police didn't find West, but the residents of the home that was searched say he was there Sunday morning.

Residents say police were inside for hours looking for West and evidence.

Amy Wadas' Report:

"Knocked the door down, broke the basement window," Amanda Cunning said.

Cunning says she didn't know West, didn't recognize his name and didn't know about the crime, but then police showed her his picture.

"Someone brought him here. I don't even know who brought him here. I'm like, yeah, sure, he can sleep on the couch," Cunning said.

Cunning says after she saw the picture, she told authorities West had been staying at her home for three days. The family says they don't know where he went when he left Sunday morning.

West is wanted for attempted murder and is on parole. He was recently released from a juvenile detention facility for shooting a teenager in 2015.

He is considered dangerous and may be armed. If you see him, call police.
