Man Arrested After Trying To Buy $100K Vehicle With Fake ID

NORTH HUNTINGDON (KDKA) – The search is finally over for a man that police say attempted to buy a $100,000 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk from the Jim Shorkey Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership in North Huntingdon with a fake ID.

KDKA-TV was the only station there as police walked the man out of the woods nearby.

North Huntingdon police resumed their search Tuesday morning after several people called in saying they spotted the man near the woods. A state police helicopter was brought in to help with the search and spotted the man. Police surrounded him and took him into custody.

KDKA was also there as the man was brought into the North Huntington Police Department, where he was questioned. He was then was wheeled out on a stretcher and taken to Forbes Hospital to be treated. The man had several scratches and bruises on his body after spending a good amount of time in the woods.

A North Huntingdon police officer was also taken to the hospital in this ambulance after hurting his back during the manhunt.

This all started late Monday afternoon when the man was attempting to buy the Jeep. When police showed up to arrest the man, the general manager of the dealership said he ran across the street into the woods. Multiple local police departments assisted in the manhunt.

Police aren't releasing the name of the suspect yet since this is an active, multi-jurisdictional investigation.
