SHADYSIDE (KDKA) – A bizarre scene unfolded Wednesday night in Shadyside near the busy Bakery Square and Bakery Living apartments.
Police said witnesses called 911 about a, “naked man running through the street,” and “leaping on top of moving cars.”
Adam Koisor said he drove down Living Place as a shortcut and saw the scene unfold.
“Just taking a shortcut and surprises around every corner,” said Koisor.
Koisor said he kept driving and said the suspect did not jump on his car.
“When anyone sees a full-grown, naked man leaping from vehicle to vehicle, at first it’s jarring and then you kind of think, ‘Wow, I wish I had that type of freedom,’” said Koisor.
The incident landed 22-year-old Kamaru-Deen Lawal in jail for resisting arrest. Police said when officers arrived he acted in “an aggressive manner” and “ignored all verbal commands.”
Police said officers deployed a Taser on his buttocks and brought him down onto the sidewalk. Police said the suspect continued to resist arrest and they shackled his ankles. The entire ordeal attracted a crowd.
“For the young people, that would be a traumatizing event and also to have to explain to their kids what they just saw,” said Koisor.
Police said they believe the suspect was “under the influence of some type of controlled substance,” but KDKA’s request for more information from Pittsburgh Police was not immediately answered.
Lawal is facing charges including, indecent exposure, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, open lewdness, public drunkenness, obstruction of highways or public passages, and pedestrian under influence.
