Penn Hills, Steel Valley Win WPIAL Titles

(KDKA) — Steel Valley rolled to a 48-6 win over South Side Beaver in the WPIAL 2A Championship on Saturday at Joe Walton Stadium at Robert Morris University.
The Ironmen (12-1) rolled to their second title in three years in their third straight appearance in the title game.
South Side (10-4) was is in its first WPIAL championship game since winning its only title in 1999.

On Friday night, Penn Hills (14-0) moved past West Allegheny (10-3) at Norwin High School to take the Class 5A title.
West Allegheny had knocked off No. 1-ranked Gateway in the WPIAL semifinals last weekend to reach the championship, but that turned out to be the end of the line for legendary WPIAL coach Bob Palko.
The title-game loss ended the storied career of West Allegheny coach Palko, who retires with eight championships and a 217-73 record.
