PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Former Plum High School standout turned WVU punter Pat McAfee is getting closer to tying the knot, and he asked his bride-to-be in an elaborate way.

The NFL punter turned podcaster and social media giant announced on Twitter Sunday that he has asked Samantha Ludy to be his wife.

"I finally asked @Sami_lynn24 if she'd spend forever with me... She said yes, we both smiled, laughed, and cried a bit in front of a waterfall and then ate sandwiches in front of the bird that flew us there... Yesterday was awesome. I'm the luckiest dude on this here planet."

The tandem flew via helicopter to a remote waterfall in Hawaii so he could pop the question. The two enjoyed a picnic afterwards.

Last week, the WWE announced that McAfee had signed a contract with the entertainment outlet as well.

"Good morning beautiful people.. today's a pretty massive day for me. I can officially say I'm a @WWE employee. A real lifelong dream coming true thanks to @MichaelCole and @TripleH.. This opportunity means the world to me. Let's. Go."

Congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs. McAfee!
