Lawrenceville Home Struck By Bullets Overnight

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police were called to a home in Lawrenceville overnight after reports of gunfire.

Neighbors in Lawrenceville called 911 shortly after midnight when someone drove down Kendall Street and opened fire at a home.

Several bullets shattered the front glass window and damaged the siding of a home in the 700 block of the street, between Kent Way and Celadine Street. The damage is visible from the street.

Police tell KDKA that three adults were inside the home at the time of the shooting, but no one was injured.

"I heard about five or six shots," said Don Klimovich, a neighbor.

"There was five gunshots in rapid succession," said Sean O'Malley, another neighbor. "It was very startling. Not something we usually get around here."

Klimovich and O'Malley described the gunshots as loud and disorienting. Another neighbor who didn't want to appear on camera said he almost dropped to the floor and said the gunshots scared his dog.

"I was in the living room, doing some homework, and I immediately went upstairs and talked to my roommates," said O'Malley. "One was still awake, and he heard it, and he was pretty shook and the other had just woken up from it, and that's when we called the police about a quarter to midnight. They said someone else had also reported the shots."

Police said the incident remains under investigation and there have not been any arrests.

KDKA asked neighbors to describe the area:

"It's very quiet. We're on this dead-end street here, but nothing like this ever occurs," said O'Malley. "There's the street up behind our house that's cobblestone and perhaps you hear a loud truck going up and down the street, but even last night after the shots, it wasn't like someone sped off immediately afterwards," said O'Malley.

Klimovich said he wants the area to remain quiet and safe and hopes the shooting wasn't a warning for his neighbor.

There are two security cameras positioned on the front of the targeted home. KDKA's Meghan Schiller knocked on the home's door, but no one answered.

"This is starting to get to be a better area, a more expensive area here. I guess the people are paying big money. And they don't want to see the shootings going o.n"

No arrest has been made.

The incident remains under investigation.
