CANONSBURG (KDKA) -- Police say Logan Macri attacked his mother before they arrived at the scene Sunday afternoon.

"The initial call came in through 911 where she believed he may have been on drugs," said State Police Trooper Forrest Allison. "The original call came in to 911 as a domestic between a mother and a 19-year-old son. The original report came in that he was in possession of a firearm and making threats."

That firearm was an AR-15 assault rifle and according to police 19-year-old Logan Macri also had a handgun that he struck his mother with before she made the 911 call.

When police arrived Marci was in the driveway holding the AR-15 rifle. He initially put it down as he was commanded to do, but police say he picked it up again and pointed it at the officers and they fired before Marci could.

Macri remains in a Pittsburgh hospital.

"We have been in contact with UPMC police and they are aware that a warrant exists and it will be coordinated after we know when he will be released," said Trooper Forrest Allison.

Macri's condition is not being released, but when he is released from the hospital, he is facing charges of assault, terroristic threats and resisting arrest.
