2 Injured In Accident Along Saw Mill Run Boulevard

DUQUENSE HEIGHTS (KDKA) -- Two people were injured in an accident when their car went airborne and slammed into the side of a building along Saw Mill Run Boulevard early Thursday morning.

The crash occurred shortly after 3 a.m., near Woodruff Street, in Duquesne Heights.

Once daylight came, company employees and inspectors surveyed the damage at the Veolia Water Company. That's the building the blue vehicle crashed into. The siding was knocked in and some of the bricks were knocked out of place.

A building inspector has to evaluate the stability of the structure.

The driver and passenger, both men, had to be extricated from the car. They were taken to a local hospital and both listed in critical condition.

Police have not said if charges will be filed in this case.

The accident caused traffic to backup on Saw Mill Run Boulevard along the inbound lanes for much of the morning rush hour. It has since reopened.

The Veolia Water Company's offices remain closed today.
