One Dead, Another Critically Wounded In Carnegie Stabbing

CARNEGIE (KDKA) -- Allegheny County Police are asking the public for help in finding a suspect who killed 51-year-old Luke Connolly and assaulted a 31-year-old in Carnegie.

Police say it happened in an apartment in the 400 block of 5th Street early Sunday.

According to police, a woman ran from the apartment to a neighbor's house to get help after being stabbed several times and when police arrived, they found Connolly dead from several stab wounds.

No motive was given for the stabbings, but a family friend of the Connolly that wanted to remain unidentified said it's a sad ending to a troubled life.

"He was a good kid," the family friend said. "Sometimes he was homeless, sometimes he was misunderstood, he's had a rough life."

County Police aren't saying if drugs were involved, but several neighbors admitted the building was known for drug abuse.

"I knew he was headed in the wrong direction, but there was nothing we could do for him," the family friend added.

The female victim was taken to an area hospital and is in critical condition and Connolly's family has been alerted of his death.

"They're a mess, they don't know anything and they don't have any details, all they know is their brother is gone," the family friend added.
