Heinz Field Adds Seats For Already Sold-Out, Record-Breaking Garth Brooks' Concert

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- There was good news for Garth Brooks' fans ahead of this weekend's sold-out concert in Pittsburgh.

Heinz Field officials posted to Twitter early Friday morning that they are adding more seats for the show on Saturday night.

Tickets went on sale at 4:30 p.m. and quickly sold out.

Saturday's crowd is already expected to be the largest in Heinz Field's history.

Parking lots are set to open at 2 p.m., and the gates to Heinz Field open at 5 p.m. The concert begins at 7 p.m.

There will be mounted police officers, as well as officers patrolling the area's rivers. Inside the stadium, there will be 32 EMS personnel and two physicians.

The department also said officers on motorcycles will help direct traffic and two cycle units will monitor parking lots.

The Port Authority says extra T cars will be running throughout the day to get fans to and from the concert. They say service will be increased starting at 1 p.m.

"We'll be running two-car trains throughout the entire day on Saturday, and we'll be starting to run extra service about 1 p.m. on Saturday," said Port Authority spokesperson Adam Brandolph. "We're going to be able to meet demand, that's not going to be a problem, but there will be long waits, we anticipate delays, we hope folks are patient. Trains will come, they will come every five minutes or so after the event."

Buses will be operating on a Saturday schedule.

Concert-goers are also encouraged to consider other public transportation options.

"Use park and rides," said Brandolph. "Park and rides are great alternatives to come into the city, and we have park and rides throughout the county and they will be open throughout the event."
