Purr-fect Pets To Adopt In And Around Pittsburgh

Animal shelters work hard to care for unhoused pets and connect them to loving homes. Hoodline used data from Petfinder to power this roundup of pets currently available for adoption.

(Details like pet availability, training, vaccinations and other features are based on data provided by Petfinder and may be subject to change; contact the shelter for the latest information.)

Cookie, Dutch rabbit

Cookie is a charming female Dutch rabbit mix staying at Humane Animal Rescue. She is already vaccinated.

Cookie's current caretakers say:

"C" is for Cookie and that's good enough for us. She's looking for love and knows what she wants. Her interests include watching you love her from afar, lettuce, hopping and long hops at your house. She may take a little while to warm up to you, but that's only because she doesn't give her love to just anyone. You must earn it and show her that you are worthy of the precious gift that is her heart. Cookie has lived with other rabbits before so she may be able to go home with another bunny buddy, pending a successful bunny date.

Chewy, guinea pig

Chewy is a charming male guinea pig mix being kept at Humane Animal Rescue. Chewy is vaccinated.

Here's what Chewy's friends at Humane Animal Rescue have to say:

In a galaxy not so far away, two brothers are looking for their forever home. Han and Chewy are happy boys who enjoy each other's company, and once they become comfortable and acclimated at your home, you'll be their best friend. Han and Chewy enjoy chirping and purring to one another, like their very own little song shared between the two of them.

Dewey is a winsome female Lionhead-Havana mix rabbit in the care of Humane Animal Rescue (North). Dewey has all her shots.

More on Dewey:

I'm a bit shy at first, but after I warm up to you, there's no stopping me. I'm a very curious little guy, who loves to explore. All of these amazing small spaces and corners, how can I not sniff every single one? I love to hide under my blanket and get cozy. My friends at the shelter say I'm still a baby, and I need enrichment and the correct nutrition so I can grow big and strong.

Remmie, Rex rabbit

Remmie is a female Rex rabbit mix in the care of Humane Animal Rescue. She has all her shots.

From Remmie's current caretaker:

Remmie is our resident diva who is looking for a palace to call her own. This royal rabbit knows what she likes, including tossing around a hay ball, munching on her daily portion of romaine lettuce and being admired from afar. This gal is all about playing with toys. Remmie loves affection on her own terms: Once she has warmed up to you, she will grace you with the privilege of petting her head and touching her soft ears. Remmie has been improving on her litter box habit. Because of her big ego, Remmie would prefer to live as a solo rabbit —  this way, she doesn't have to share your affection with anybody else.
