NEW CASTLE, Pa. (KDKA) – A firefighter was injured while battling an overnight house fire in New Castle.

Crews were called to East Clayton Street at 1 a.m. this morning. The firefighter was hurt when he fell down the stairs, and he was taken to the hospital with a possible broken leg.

It doesn’t appear that the residents of the house were home at the time of the fire, which started in the back of the house.

As of this morning, the cause is still under investigation.
